Each March we have an "All About ME" crop to give the scrapbookers the opportunity to scrap about themselves. We are the ones spending all the time behind the camera and documenting everyone's life. My Daughter, granddaughter and I made a trip to Chicago to celebrate the Girl's Birthdays this month. Audrey wanted to spend the afternoon at The American Girl Store and Aimee wanted to spend the evening at IKEA. We had as much fun at AG as Audrey did, just watching her bounce around. She was hopping and skipping over both levels of the store, trying to decide what she "just had to have" and which doll she wanted to bring home. She settled on Chrissa, and 4 outfits. I couldn't resist getting the matching outfits for Audrey as well. She took her doll to the beauty salon for a new hairdo and ear piercing, then to the photo studio for a photo shoot. Her mom got her a bed and Llama and I got the beauty salon chair. She played until she couldn't keep her eyes open any longer at the hotel. I came home and scrapped this layout of her "photo shoot" with her newest friend Chrissa.
My daughter and I both LOVE Ikea and could probably live there if allowed. We have an obsession with the Expedit cube bookcases that are PERFECT for scrapbooking paper & cardstock. Use any of the bins or totes and you can store an inordinate amount of supplies :) She got her second bookcase for her second birthday in a row. I got a 8 cube bookcase to put all of my albums in, I am running out of room. We both thought we hit the jackpot during this visit. I have tried to purchase the trestle legs for my workspace for 4 years, each and every time Ikea was out of this item. I had given up hope. Once again we wrote down the aisle/bin number on our card "just to check" to see if they were available. Not only were they in stock, they had been marked down to $12/each!!!!
What is great about this particular trestle leg, is it is adjustable up to counter height! The birch tops we got were $30 and 30" x 60" super nice workspace for $54!!! We actually contemplated purchasing more just because we had been deprived for so long :)
I had leased a Dodge Caravan (love the stow N' go seats) so we could bring the large Expedit bookcase back without a trailer (the Caravan has a bid 8' 6" cargo space with the seats stowed).
It's a good thing we don't live closer to an Ikea!
That may not sound like an earth moving event to some, but it was an important event in our family. Audrey's First Dance! After the past 9 months since we found out that Audrey had cancer, all of her firsts become memories to cherish. Moments we celebrate because my little granddaughter is happy and healthy and going to her first dance! It was a father and daughter dance held at the school on Valentines Day. Audrey was over the moon excited about the dance and getting dressed up and going with just her dad. She was full of excitement when she got home, talking about the kids, the dances and the LOUD speakers she kept dancing next to. The dress she is wearing was one I bought her for Christmas, but it was perfect for the dance. She was absolutely beaming, I think she was gorgeous! She tolerated her mother & I taking about 100 pictures of her...or maybe she is just getting use to always having a camera in her face :)
Vacation day that is to get my scrapping mojo back. I had to thumb through old magazines to get my inspiration moving. But I was able to get 6 layouts down in 2 days, I am happy with that.
This layout was too bulk to scan so I had to take a photo, not very successfully either. But I love the picture and I like how it turned out. The colors don't show through in the photo very well.
This was a fun one, but what other kind could it be with Jen as the subject. We do laugh a lot when we are together, she has a pose, face and remark for EVERYTHING! Love ya Jen!
This didn't turn out like I imagined it, but it has my darling granddaughter on it, so it is perfect. She is my mini me :)
We had a group in Chicago this past summer for CHA, and the husbands are always welcome. We (Allan and I ) were mugging it up, while Dawn tried to be serious. I will miss CHA Chicago, we always had a great time in the windy city.
I know I am bias, but my grandson was the best looking baby/toddler I have every seen. I loved that beautiful face from the moment I laid eyes on him.
On of our Design team members, Sarah Martinez hosted a rockin' crop a few weeks ago and posted this PageMaps sketch. I finally found time to use it. Nothing like a wonderful beach picture to scrap in the middle of winter :)
It's a tense time when it is time for the 3 month scan to check my granddaughter for reoccurring cancer. But, today we celebrate! She has had her second clear scan! What a great relief and comfort those words bring to a weary family. Audrey is doing great! Thriving in school, participating in an Odyssey of the Mind group and generally enjoying life. We had a celebration dinner tonight (Miss Audrey's choice), during dinner Papa asked her "what are we going to do with your sassy", she replied "nothing" like what are you talking about? I agree, I love her sassy, it's not a smart alec sassy or a mean sassy, but a spunky sassy that makes me smile. It's that spunky and sassy that has gotten us all through the past 9 months. Love you stinky!
